1. Pericles was a huge art supporter - he gave a lot of his money and wealth to support artists and art in general in Athens (he even sponsored the famous playwright Aeschylus)
2. During his reign, the country flourished so much that this era came to be known as The Golden Age of Athens, aka Age of Pericles. This was because he made important changes in Athens that led to it becoming even more powerful
3. He was also a supporter of democracy - thanks to him, it developed even more, because he introduced new laws and ideas
4. Pericles was a famous general as well - he thought that the military was an important asset any country should have, and thus he trained his army to protect the country and help those in need
5. He upgraded Athens greatly - he had envisioned a lot of building programs, such as to found an acropolis, many temples, etc. so as to represent Athens' glory
