Plz help me The Aztec spoke a language called Nahuatl. We know so much about the Aztec language because when the Spanish came to the new world they brought along informants seeking knowledge of the cultures of the “New World”. They took the time to write dictionaries, histories and even grammer books about the Aztec language. One thing learned is that the Nahuatl language would often combine multiple words into one. For example, Nicuatl translates to “I eat” and Nitamalcuatl translates to “I eat tamales”.

1. According to the reading, how did the Spanish help preserve the Aztec language?

2. Why is it important to record present day information about our culture/civilization?
