This battle led to a siege in Bastogne of the stubborn 101st Airborne Division and other units of the U.S. Army  which refused to surrender to the Germans and held the area until the U.S. Third Army reached them. The HBO miniseries, ''Band of Brothers'', covered this to some degree.
