Government: Socrates opposed democracy. He was against any form of government that was not led by philosophers. Socrates asserted that philosophers were the only people suitable to govern others. Furthermore, he suggested that the majority was not capable of good decision making. Instead, it is more valuable for those governing to make logical and defensible decisions.

Government: plato would have granted his central government great powers. One power in particular that the government would be able to assert us the censorship of all artists created a copy of reality and therefore perpetuate a lie. Art would not be acceptable in plato’s world. It is important to note here that Plato’s perception of artists is hypocritical given that he argues for a government than in itself is a noble lie. The government would tell all role in society would be at birth. This lie would be presented to citizens to maintain order. The top individual in the societal hierarchy would be philosophers kings , whom plato felt would be the only individual to have the wisdom to rule over society.

Government: Aristotle conceived the idea of an organic city or natural community. Aristotle saw politics as a collection of parts that could not exist without each other. A city according to Aristotle, was a political partnership which exists for the sake of living together. It was not simply a social contract. Aristotle did not believe that women or foreigners should be allowed to be citizens in the city. In order to achieve stability, Aristotle advocated for a strong middle class to balance tyranny and democracy. It has been theorized that Aristotle may have authored a model of a constitution for Athens at one time.
