It has been said that “all who obtain power fear losing it.” It has been said “Sometimes you have to pick the gun up to put the gun down,” but also that “If you want to rebel, rebel from inside the system. That's much more powerful than rebelling outside the system.” Jefferson believed “that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing,” but JFK said that those who “make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable.”
Discuss whether the Rebellions were: a) necessary and b) effective
Consider why compromise was difficult to achieve and/or why there was such a willingness on the part of the people to rise up against the government. Try to pay particular attention to the Lower Canada rebellions
