30 POINTS PLEASE JUST HELP IM BEGGING As the nation expanded; the debate over slavery also grew. Congress worked to keep the nation united and maintained a balance between slaveholding and free states through several compromises. Both sides knew that if the balance was lost, the region with more votes in Congress would control the future of the country. People risked their lives to stop the spread of slavery, some even took the lives of others.
Step One:
Create a Top Five list of events related to westward expansion that affected African Americans. Review the lesson for compromises and consequences to help make your list. Events you should consider include the following:
Missouri Compromise
Compromise of 1850
Kansas-Nebraska Act
Dred Scott v. Sandford
Fugitive Slave Act
Nat Turner's Rebellion
Bleeding Kansas
Harpers Ferry
Step Two:
Explain your reasoning for the item you ranked as the #1 event with strongest impact.
Step Three:
Post your list from Step 1 and your reasoning for your #1 answer from Step 2 in the Discussion Area.
Step Four:
Respond to two students’ postings by agreeing or disagreeing with their lists. Explain why you agree or disagree with their judgment of westward expansion’s greatest changes for African Americans. Review the discussion guidelines before posting to the Discussion Area.
