Create your own God/Goddess Wouldn’t it be nice to have a god or goddess of your own? The ancient Greeks created their gods and goddesses to help them explain many of the occurrences in their daily lives or to explain why certain things in nature were the way they were. We have discussed a few of the many gods and goddesses that were a part of Greek mythology. Your task is to create a NEW god or goddess and give him or her qualities. You may use known myths for inspiration but, do not plagerize. Rework them to make them your own, or come up with a completely new idea.

Keep in mind:

Myths were used to explain the origin of things.
Myths often included gods to explain the creation of things.
Myths explained natural phenomena.
Where could this story have taken place?
How could this story have originated?
Who are the main characters?
Where do the main scenes take place?
Components to include:

Picture portion where you will either draw, create digitally, mold, or find another way to represent your god(dess).

Written portion where you will explain the answers to several questions about your god(dess) in paragraph form.  This should be typed.   Neatness, spelling, grammar, and creativity count as well.  Be sure to name your god(dess) too!

In your first paragraph…introduce your God/Goddess

Explain what your god/goddess looks like (height, hair color, dress, etc..) ~ Be descriptive and be sure your description matches your picture!
What does your god(dess) represent?  What symbol(s) show this?  Why?  What powers, skills and abilities does your god/goddess possess?
What personality traits does he/she possess?  Give examples of things he/she has done to support each trait.
Where does your god/goddess live?  Why did he/she choose this place?   Which other gods/goddesses, that we’ve learned about, does god/goddess associate with?
Explain why he/she connects with or has in common with this person or people.
