This political cartoon shows the corruption and political machines used in the late 1800's and early 1900s. The eyes and hands shows the 'power' the gang/mafia's possessed because of political machines. The fist most likely are the people and/or the government that the politicians are abusing.

answer: "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" is a well-known phrase in the united states declaration of independence. the phrase gives three examples of the "unalienable rights" which the declaration says have been given to all humans by their creator, and which governments are created to protect.
