What are some general characteristics of the people who identified as federalists and those who identified as antifederalists?

Federalists, believed in a strong government, wanted a separation of powers and wanted a standing army.

Anti-Federalists feared the national government would have too much power, believed that the Constitution did not protect individual rights, and did not believe in a standing army.

Explanation:

Federalists argued for ratification, promised respect for state rights and that citizens rights would be protected. Were opposed to the Bill of Rights, thought they were already included in the Constitution.

Anti-Federalists argued that the federal government would be too strong and claimed citizens rights would be in danger. Supported the Bill of rights, thought without the government would/could take away individual rights.  Believed the Constitution did not guarantee these rights.

i confess that there are several parts of this constitution which i do not at present approve, but i am not sure i shall never approve them: for having lived long, i have experienced many instances of being obliged by better information or fuller consideration, to change opinions even on important subjects, which i once thought right, but found to be otherwise. it is therefore that the older i grow, the more apt i am to doubt my own judgment, and to pay more respect to the judgment of others.
