Different Chinese inventions helped increase long-distance trade. The Chinese built large ships with which helped with
steering. About 1150, Chinese inventors in the Song dynasty perfected the which helped Chinese sailors navigate their
ships' locations and sail farther from land. As a result of these inventions, the Chinese were able to sail to Southeast Asia, India, and other
places to the west.
