The Geographic difference led the Ottomans and Mughals to become different empires with different politics, identity, and religious policies. The Ottomans are more aggressive than usually uses power to overtake land and as for the Mughal Empire, they are extremely tolerant and respectful toward other's religion. Even though both empires are religiously tolerant. The Ottomans remained a tax on those who are not Islam. While on the other hand, the Mughal empire removed the tax and builds a good relationship with other religions.

The Ottoman Empire began in Anatolia and was founded by Muslim warriors called Ghazis. They often use advanced military technology to conquer neighboring lands. The Ottoman Empire controlled the heart of Islam and was a strong Islamic state. They remained religiously tolerant and allowed others to only pay a heavy tax instead of forcing them to convert to their religion. They also have a devshirme system that takes young boys away from their families and were taught by the government. These people held government positions or were used as janissaries or soldiers.  

The Ottoman also conquered Constantinople and made it the new capital with its new name, Istanbul. The expansion gave the Ottoman empire control of trade through their region. They controlled trade routes and served as intermediaries for the trade between Europe and the Silk Road. And as the Sultan taxed all goods that were traded by non-Muslims, the empire grew vastly in wealth.

The Mughal Empire was an Islamic state founded by Barbur, a brilliant military general. Akbar was their most famous leader. Akbar greatly expanded the Mughal Empire and he supports religious freedom. While the Ottomans have a tax for other religions other than theirs, the Mughal empire went a step further and removed the tax. He wanted to build a relationship with the Hindus, he didn't force non-Muslims to obey Islamic law and even placed them into positions of high authority.

The Ottomans were more aggressive in their conquest in Europe than the Mughals in Asia. While the Ottomans just took what they wanted and fought wars, the Mughals gained an alliance with the Hindus to gain power. Abu Akbar was more passive and careful about his conquest, he created an extremely tolerant state and respected others' religion, and made people of all religions equal in his empire. Both empires were strong empires and Islamic states that were religiously tolerant, but the Mughal empire's location forced them to be more tolerant and respectful than the Ottomans.
