HEL 40PT Waltz tried both mining and prospecting in Arizona, where he relocated in the 1860s. However, it seems that he had little luck. In 1891, Waltz's farm was one of many that were flooded. Because Phoenix is in the dessert, torrential
rains I washes and rivers, and can cause devestating floods. Shortly after this, Waltz became ill - perhaps from the
flooding, he might have contracted pneumonia. He died on October 25, 1891.
