The Roman constitution established three branches of government, each of them
possessing their respective share of power. Even a Roman could not say for certain whether
the constitution as a whole established an aristocracy, a democracy, or a dictatorship. It is

Republic as a dictatorship. If we focus on the Senate alone, we would view the Republic as
