Fascism in Germany and Italy rose because of World War 1. While Italy switched sides to the Entente(Allies), they were disapointed when they only gained a little land from the peace confrence when they sacrificed so many men just to gain a little land.

Germany, on the other hand, had to cede land, pay $800 billion in war reparations(trillions today), reduce the military to 100,000 men, no airforce, only a small navy. The was humiliating for the German People, and a new fascist party, the Nazi Party(Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei), or Nazi for short, rose to power with Hitler at its top.
