What was the cause of the Whiskey Rebellion?
A.) Congress passed a bill that put a tax on all alcoholic beverages.
B.) Congress passed a bill that put a direct tax on corn and others grains. This tax fell squarely on the western farmers, and they believed it was unfair. They believed that it put too much of the tax burden of the nation on them, while giving an unfair advantage to the businessmen of the cities.
C.) A party was held with free whiskey for all.
D.) Citizens had been supplying whiskey to the Indians and Congress passed a law that anyone doing so would be arrested. This angered the many people and a rebellion broke out in the states.
E.) The citizens thought the government was getting too controlling so a group went out and destroyed all the containers of whiskey in the capital city.
