How did Andrew Jackson's approach to Indian affairs differ from that of his predecessors?

Jackson took office in 1829, and was considered an authority on dealing with Native Americans. He had participated in negotiations with several Indian tribes and managed to acquire several million acres from the Creeks and Seminoles. He then called for the removal of the Southeastern Indian tribes to territory. On May 28th, 1830, he signed the Indian Removal Act.
Andrew Jackson believed the Indian tribes to be sovereign nations that would never be willing to follow American laws and customs. Jackson had no qualms with using force against the Indians, the Seminole wars marked one of the bloodiest periods in the history of US Government and Indian relations.
