Congress generally has the authority to investigate anything related to the development of a public policy. This includes:

- The power to gather relevant information regarding a certain issues before creating the policies.

- The power to oversee the activities conducted by the executive branch of the government

- The power to investigate questionable activities from any government officials .

The executive power related to the things that congress do to fulfill the duty that given to the branch by the constitution. This includes things such as:

- Declaring laws.

- Impeaching federal officers.
