How does the lifestyle of the King and Queen of france compare to their people?

Their lifestyles were totally different. Queen and king lived in splendor, were enjoying all the benefits they had, while common people were desperate and most of them even at the edge of poverty. This created large social gaps and inequality. Therefore, the so-called third estate started rebelling.

Explanation:

It is obvious that rulers of France weren't aware or at least didn't realize who desperate people of France were. They were living far away from poverty and  hardship of every day's life. People who were starving, living on poor condition were treated as someone who has less importance.
