4. We know now that atomic weapons don't only blow a hole in the ground. Fallout from nuclear weapons poisons the air, kills wildlife, and causes people to die of radiation sickness. Enough atomic weapons could destroy life on earth. Truman did not know this, but we now do. Does knowing this change the way we look at the decision he made?
