Explain how George Curry helped to reshape conservation in New Mexico.

 The federal government wanted to take public grazing land for federal use. Curry established the Territorial Conservation Commission so that New Mexicans could make their own policies regarding grazing. By doing so, Curry successfully stopped the eviction of farmers. Curry asked the largest sheep herder in New Mexico to head the conservation commission and convinced everyone that conservation and management of the lands were in everyone's best interest.
