Conflict can start from religious beliefs, economic reasons, imperialism, breaking of alliances or forcing a right to support or call to intervention.

There will always be a supportive side and an opposing side, and that will always drag the situation to democracy. However, when democracy is broken a fight will trigger. That fight will have supporters and they will fight with all they have to achieve the result they want. So, politics often lead to war because they define the destiny of a certain group of people and when argumentation is broken along with democracy, the force will find it's way to reason.
