Topic: The Little Rock Nine.
The Little Rock Nine were a group of nine African
American students who enrolled at an all-white
high school in 1957. The students were prevented
from entering this newly segregated school by
Arkansas governor Orval Faubus.

Topic: Racial Gerrymandering in Michigan
Gerrymandering is to manipulate boundaries in
order to favor one party or class. Racial
gerrymandering is an attempt to weaken the
political power of racial minority voters, or to
strengthen the power of minority voters.
Eliminating Gerrymandering was on the ballot in
2018 in Michigan.

Topic: Montgomery Bus Boycott
Jim Crow Laws allowed for segregation of the
Montgomery Bus line. African Americans were forced
to ride in the back of the bus, and were often ordered
to surrender their seats to white people. In December
of 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a
white person on the Montgomery Bus line, and was
thrown in jail.

Topic: Colin Kaepernick U. S. Anthem Protests
Colin Kaepernick is a former NFL QB, and played for
the San Francisco 49ers. In 2016, Kaepernick decided
to kneel during the national anthem of a football
game and sparked both positive and negative
reactions through his protests throughout the
country. Kaepernick cited that he knelt during the
national anthem in order to protest against racial
injustices in the United States. Kaepernick has not
played in the NFL since his protest.
