The Native Americans gave food by showing their hospitable toward them and conducted trade with settlers.

After some time, the settlers began to develop agriculture to become less dependent on the Native Americans. The relationship among the two groups worsened after English colonists abducted Pocahontas and took over more Native American land for plantations and to extend their colony. The increasing land grabs increased the hostility, which led to frequent ambush and war.
