Pax Romana, (Latin: “Roman Peace”) a state of comparative tranquillity throughout the Mediterranean world from the reign of Augustus (27 bce–14 ce) to the reign of Marcus Aurelius (161 –180 ce). Augustus laid the foundation for this period of concord, which also extended to North Africa and Persia. Pax Romana which is Latin for "Roman Peace" was a time, as the name suggests, a long period of peace and minimal military expansion from 27 BC to about 180 AD. The main importance was that all of the land surrounding the Mediterranean was at peace because everyone was under Roman law. The quality of life in the Roman Empire depended upon where one fell within society. During the Pax Romana, the wealthy built huge, lavishly decorated houses and usually had servants or slaves to tend to their every need. The average citizen worked hard and lived reasonably comfortably in modest housing. Description Pax Romana was a long period of relative peace and stability that occurred in the Roman Empire between the accession of Caesar Augustus, founder of Roman leadership, and the death of Marcus Aurelius, the last "righteous emperor". Since it was applied by Augustus with the end of the last war of the Roman Republic, it is sometimes called Pax Augusta. The Pax Romana was said to be a peaceful time of prosperity in Rome. But was all of it really peaceful? No, although Rome wasn't fighting any wars, they still had internal struggle as an empire.

They were constantly being overlooked as a people and were being controlled by people who weren't really native to their homeland.
