They first wanted to make peace with the European's because it could help them forge a military alliance against other powerful tribes nearby. Some even thought their leaders were god. Little did they know that they weren't so 'Heavenly'. European's tried to fit in sometimes to learn new things or lead them to treasure and 'gold'. By the time passed, the Natives noticed they weren't good at all. The European's started to take there land, food and even kill them. We all know how it ended. :(
