Presidents Tyler and Jefferson both made executive decisions

Sample response follows: President Jefferson enhanced the power of the president when he decided to complete the Louisiana Purchase in the early nineteenth century. Even though the right to purchase land was not granted to him by the Constitution, he believed it was crucial for the future of the United States to make the purchase because it would more than double the size of the United States and increase the wealth of the nation. President Tyler assumed the presidency after the death of William Henry Harrison in the mid-nineteenth century even though the Constitution did not give him the right to become the president. He made the decision to step into the presidency, and he did. Later, the 25th Amendment would officially make the vice president second-in-command and the rightful successor to the presidency.
