Why did Broussard and the other leaders stop resisting deportation? Britain had taken over Quebec, so it seemed pointless to continue. The Acadians thought they might have a better life outside of Canada. The resistance fighters realized they were not smart enough to defeat the British. The British decided to offer the Acadians rewards for leaving the area willingly.
