They competed to become more advanced than other groups of people.

Before the Neolithic, most human groups were hunter-gatherers this means to obtain food including fruits, plants, or meat from animals they hunted animals and collected resources moving from one area to another as they depended on the availability of animals and plants in each area. This made the availability of sources changing and unreliable.
