For years India was ruled by the British East India Company. However, after several riots, the British government stepped in and assumed responsibility for ruling the South Asian country. Why did the British government feel the need to replace the British East India Company? a) The British government believed that the British East India Company was causing too much disruption in India's social structure.
b) British citizens did not like havng to pay to settle disputes caused by independent companies, so they pressured their government to take control.
c) Managers at the British East India Company realized they were was losing control and asked the British government to step in.
