Great Britain did not get much help after the war and there was a massive amount of cleanup (especially the damage done in London) to be competitive.  Japan and Germany were on the mend. Britain really was not.

She did move closer to other countries in Europe, particularly France and Germany.

I'm not sure about the first one. I don't remember that occurring, but it sure might have. It must have because 3 and especially 2 were true. I remember sitting in a History Class. We normally were studying 1200 - 1300, but that day we studied nothing. We kept asking our instructor if he had any special incite. He gave the oddest answer; he said all we could do was wait and see what developed. Khrushchev turned out to be the man of the century. He withdrew but not without some concessions from the United States. So the first answer has to be true. I just don't remember it that way.

Three was certainly true. That is exactly what happened. Cuba is only 90 miles from Florida.
