A FIDO vest is a vest that allows a dog to communicate with his owner. The name stands for "Facilitating Interactions for Dogs with Occupations." The vest consists of sensors (such as buttons and a lever) that a dog can push in order to indicate that its owner needs help. This allows a dog to communicate either with its owner or with other people. This is an example of a narrative from the point of view of a service dog who uses a FIDO vest:

"I am so happy with my new vest! It allows me to tell humans so many things that I could not say before. A perfect example is what happened yesterday. I went to the park with my owner. He cannot see, so he relies on me to be his eyes. However, he is very brave and we often go to places where most people would not go. This was the case yesterday, when my owner wanted to climb a big hill. However, he fell and twisted his ankle, so he could not move. I knew this was the perfect time for me to use my vest, so I got ready. I contacted the police and send them our exact location. Soon after, the ambulance arrived to help my owner. I am so happy that I was able to help him in this way!"
