Social

The North and the South had close to the same amount of soldiers who died from wounds. This may be because both the North and the South had the same medical treatments available.

I see many fallen men.

I feel worry in the mother's letter wondering if her son is alive.

Economic

The North spent over double the amount of money that the South did during the Civil War. Maybe this is one of the reasons that it won the war.

Political

Eight electoral votes were not cast; Lincoln still would have held a lead over McClellan.
