Because they may not have the amount they need immediately on hand. Or they plan to use it in the future, like for retirement.

People save money mainly to buy goods and products they need.

If you dont have any money, you can't really provide for yourself. You have to pay the rent, light bill, you have to buy food and water, and you have to buy clothes, aswell. Yes, sometimes people may help you, but sometimes they wont and you have to provide for yourself.
