What happens is that the tectonic plates of the Earth are moving all the time, although we as humans do not feel every movement. These plates float in the mantle of the planet. The model further explains plate movement in that we can understand one of the many movements of the plates. For instance, the split movement, when the plates cross each other. Or the subduction movement, when one plate moves below the other plate. It can also explain the collision moment in which the plates fold up due to the crash.
