the idea of "imperialism," which is defined as: the policy or
action by which one country controls (economically and/or
politically) another country or territory.
At the 1897 celebration of Queen Victoria's 60th year as the
Queen of England, it was noted by those in attendance that
"the sun never sets on the British Empire." Knowing that
Great Britain was just a small island nation, how was it
possible that "the sun never set on the British Empire"?
