What proved to be a major hardship for settlement in the New England colonies was exporting raw materials to England.

Great Britain was in need of raw materials that could be imported from the new territories in America. England needed raw materials from the colonies such as lumber, wool, iron, cotton, tobacco, and rice. In England, merchants wanted to export their products to the colonies such as guns, knives, and furniture. But one major hardship for settlement in the New England colonies was exporting raw materials to England because Great Britain established restrictions on the colonies’ exports. The decision affected the colonies and the American people was very upset.

then once you find a topic you like find out how it affected the people of america and what not. (sorry if this feels a bit short changed, history was and never will be one of my strong topics)
