conquered the Aztec and the Inca instead of trading with them

If the Spaniards had to trade with the Aztecs and Incas, they would have to continuously give up their own goods in exchange for the Aztec's and Inca's goods. It benefited them more to just conquer the empires. They also wanted to acquire more territory. It is the "Glory" in the three g's. They wanted to expand their power.
