This unit includes an examination of the structure and responsibilities of government in the state of Oklahoma. The constitution of Oklahoma was adopted in 1907, more than 100 years ago. It created a government with many similarities to the national government. The constitution has changed over the years, but the government it created is more or less the same.
Imagine that Oklahoma planned to hold a new constitutional convention. This convention would have the purpose of writing a new constitution that reflected more modern ideas. If you could write a new constitution, would you make changes to your state government? If so, what changes would you make and why? If you don't want to make any changes, discuss why you think no changes need to be made.
