The three important reasons for studying history are
1) to connect the dots to form a picture
2) to reveal past contributions of civilizations
3) to connect the past to the present
4) to memorize important dates, events, and people
5) to recognize patterns

People study history for very varied reasons but among them the most important reasons for me are to reveal past contributions of civilazation so that we can connect the past to the present. It is also important to take notes of different scenarios so that we can create the greater pictures. So, I picked the first three choices.
