What significant economic challenge did european countries face after world war i?

A great economic challenge was restarting the industry in a country that is war torn and where people are starving. Most of industry was halted completely with factories destroyed, or similar, which is why Europe needed help from allied forces to restart the industry and thus restart the economy.
