Letter II - the writer goes off on a lengthy tangent, telling a story about "the master is a person of an excellent disposition" Why this tangent? What's the purpose of this tale - shouldn't we be reading about a crazy monster killing people?(consider the writer's own motivations for his voyage and compare with the motivations this person had in making the decision he did with regards to his betrothal - who was acting selfishly?) *
