They destroyed our biggest military base because, we were huge yet we didn't have much military power that's where most of our military power was. They destroyed it, because of it all Americans were eager to fight for the country and the lost men and the woman helped with planes, ships, missiles, etc. With the population the Americans had at the time that was a lot of hands on"deck" if you would call it and our military might grew tenfold.
