Ma was a brave woman who rarely cried of sadness. She hadn't even cried when her mother died. However, when she arrived to America, she became so weak and cried over what seemed like nothing to others. She was caring and was always trying to be polite to others. Even when Elsa made scrambled eggs for them and it was cold and looked disgusting, Ma still made her and the girls eat it to show Elsa that they loved her food. However, she knew that Uncle Patrick's family did not enjoy them staying at their house. She did not like the way the two girls treated her own daughters. But that's not the reason why she left. She left because she missed her husband and her son at Ireland. She didn't want to wait about a month and a half. She thought that her son would forget her since he is only a baby.
