Democratic countries also have a number of different branches of the government in order to ensure no single entity has too much power e.g. a free judiciary.

Communism, as a political system does not provide individual freedoms and is more concerned about the society. Free and fair elections do not take place and there is usually a one-party system. In order to maintain this one-political system, there is no tolerance for different opinions which means that there is no free press.

Also, political power mostly resides the one person who has a complete control over the affairs of the country.
