How did Luther's movement change society?

Luther emphasized individual aspect of religion, i.e faith. In contrast to Catholicism, Luther understood that faith is a psychological and individual phenomenon. Catholicism emphasized acts and viewed faith as a collective phenomenon.  Consequenty, Luther put emphasis on individual aspect of human behaviour and psychology which was something that corresponded with the spirit of renaissance and humanism.
