Why did Woodrow Wilson create the Fourteen Points?
The devastation of the war led to Wilson's desire to establish the Fourteen
Points that Americans were fighting for a moral cause and peace.
The disadvantage faced by the United States and its allies resulted in Wilson
writing the Fourteen Points to entice Germany to the negotiating table.
Congress was uneasy about joining the war and directed Wilson to establish his
Fourteen Points before it would agree to a declaration of war.
The German victory at the Battle of the Marne in 1918 forced Wilson to write
the Fourteen Points as a response to the German d&nand for an Allied
surrender.
