Pasteur introduces germ theory which was further expanded by Koch. It enabled the medical filed to understand how bacteria can be a cause of illness and how these illnesses can be prevented and cured.

With the help of their work, several vaccines were discovered which were used by humans to prevent themselves from illnesses.

It also allowed surgeons to understand and implement the surgical procedures under hygienic conditions because germs are a big part of surgical failure.
