Why did Roman citizens have to pay taxes, serve in the military, and serve as jurors?

For example, in the Roman Empire, the government would use its tax money to get materials for military equipment, pay to build more roads and buildings, support families, and etc. There are many more ways the government could use the money from citizens paying their taxes to better the economy.

Because the Roman Citizens serve in the military, it shows the other empires around the Roman Empire that the government is very powerful, since they would have a very good and powerful army. Back in the Roman Empire days, a powerful army meant that the empire has a powerful government, and it showed other empires to not mess with them, unless if they want to lose.

The Roman citizens also served jury duty, and that helped better the government. The reason why citizens serving jury duty betters the government is because it helps the government stay on track with the citizens and them following the laws that has been placed down by the government. It makes the government look good because the government knows that there are citizens that are helping with the judicial things and making sure that the cases in the Empire are following the law, and if the people in the cases are doing things against the law, the jury will help the government make the decision.
