constitution allowing all males to vote.

Thousands of nobles are executed during the Reign of Terror.

A third constitution gives power to a Directory and limits voting to property-owning males.

Napoleon takes power from the unpopular Directory in a coup d'état.

Napoleon names himself Emperor of the French.
