Define direct democracy and representatives democracy

Direct democracy is a form of government in which all laws are created by a general vote of society.

A representative democracy is a system of government in which all eligible citizens vote on representatives to pass laws for them.

The main difference here is that in one form of democracy, society represents themselves whilst in another form, society selects individuals to represent themselves in Congress or the House of Representatives as an example.
